ARTWORK BY: ROB LOWE SENIOR
The painting by Robert Lowe Senior, which has been reproduced in part for the front cover of Archie’s album, tells the story of Framlingham Aboriginal Mission, “the Mish”, in southwest Victoria as Robert remembers it back in the 1950’s. He painted it out of respect for all the old people he grew up with on “the Mish”. The brown lines with the black dots represent the Tracks. The blue line, with the dots beside it, is the Hopkins River. The circles represent the homes back in the 1950’s. Each pattern represents a different part of the Mission. When he heard Archie sing Old Mission Road it brought back all those memories of how life was living on the Mish and of all those who have passed away. “It also brought tears to my eyes remembering what happened out there; like Archie being taking away from his family which also happened to my wife, Daphne Proctor’s brothers and sisters.”
